Disability Access and Inclusion Plan

The Disability Services Act (1993) requires all local governments to have a current Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP).

The City of Cockburn's amended Disability Access & Inclusion Plan (2012 - 2017) was endorsed by Council in March 2015 and has been approved by the Disability Services Commission (DSC).

The City submits annual progress reports to DSC about achievements made on the DAIP outcomes.

DAIP Outcomes:
The City of Cockburn's DAIP has eight outcome areas:

Outcome 1

All people have equitable access to services and events organised by the City of Cockburn

Outcome 2

Buildings and facilities within the management control of the City of Cockburn are systematically improved to achieve universal access

Outcome 3

All information provided by the City of Cockburn shall be available in alternative formats on request

Outcome 4

The City of Cockburn provides consistent and equitable services to all people

Outcome 5

The City of Cockburn provides accessible means for a person to make a complaint, and these complaints are fully investigated and communicated in an accessible format

Outcome 6

All people are effectively extended the opportunity to equitably contribute in all public consultations and decision making processes

Outcome 7

People with a disability have the same opportunities as other people to obtain and maintain employment with a public authority

Outcome 8

Businesses and services within the City of Cockburn are encouraged to improve the access and inclusion of their businesses for people with disabilities
