Home Evacuation Flagging Trail - Banjup and Jandakot

  • GREEN means you've GONE
  • ORANGE means you're STAYING to defend your home

stay or go

The City will be trialling a Home Evacuation Flagging system which aims to help emergency crews save time, homes and even lives.

The Trial
Homes will be supplied with a bag (pictured) and asked to place this bag over a standard council bin at the front of their driveway during a bushfire emergency or other major emergency.

If you are leaving your home for a safer place, you should display the green side of the bag, this alerts emergency responders that you are aware of the emergency and have left your home.

If you have chosen to stay and defend your home, you should display the orange side of the bag at the front of your property. This alerts emergency responders that you are aware of the emergency and are prepared to stay and defend.

These actions help emergency responders by saving them time as they wont have to knock on doors to alert people.

Home Evacuation Flagging bags are available from the City of Cockburn administration building on request.  To take part in the trial, contact the Emergency Management department on 9411 3444.

Participating in this trial is voluntary.  In a life threatening situation you should call 000.

The Stay or Go Project has been made possible with funding from the All West Australians Reducing Emergencies (AWARE) Program.
