We invite you to discover our City

The City of Cockburn is a place where you can have it all. It’s either here already, right on our doorstep, or we’re working hard to make it happen.
We’re a magnet for families and lifestyle hunters who want to live, work and play here. We’re centrally located in the southern suburbs of Perth, on Whadjuk Nyungar Boodjar (the land of the Whadjuk Nyungar people) between the coast and Jandakot Airport.

Cockburn is made up of vibrant communities - old and new. We’re a place of diverse people, lifestyles and experiences—with everything from pristine beaches and wetlands to theme parks and world-class recreation facilities.

Above all, we’re a growing and vibrant community of 125,031 people and 9,297 businesses across 24 suburbs - with a long history and an exciting future.

Local Economy

The City of Cockburn is open for business. We are an epicentre of innovation and opportunity for industry and a major contributor of economic activity and employment in the state. We're home to five of WA’s most successful industrial and commercial hubs with everything from defence to manufacturing.

Cockburn Central

Cockburn Central, at the heart of our City, is one of the fastest-growing communities in the south Perth metropolitan area. It is home to the award-winning Cockburn ARC (Aquatic and Recreation Centre) and Fremantle Football Club with an exciting $1b transformation of Cockburn Gateway Shopping City underway.

Stunning coastline

The City's coastal communities offer residents a laid-back lifestyle near pristine beaches and Port Coogee Marina. The award-winning Coogee Beach and Woodman Point recreation reserves offer a range of leisure activities. Visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, kite-surfing, camping and hiking.

Pristine wetlands

Two chains of wetlands run north-south through the City as part of the Beeliar Regional Park. These areas provide habitat for local flora and fauna and are a natural oasis within Cockburn. Many of the wetland areas have walking and cycling trails, BBQs, public amenities and playgrounds. Bibra Lake Regional Playground is a unique nature play facility containing Aboriginal story-telling and with disability access.

And still more fun …

We invite you to have endless fun in Cockburn. Choose your own adventure - explore WA’s most accessible shipwreck, The Omeo; dive into new adventures at the Coogee Maritime Trail; visit theme parks and ice-skating rinks or you may choose to spend time not money, as there is plenty to do without having to open your purse or wallet.
