Cockburn needs leadership that can deliver change. I've served on Council for eight years, the past two as Deputy Mayor. I've shown I can lead and deliver.

I'll keep your rates low while securing our core services. I’ll deliver long-overdue Sporting Infrastructure Upgrades, road safety upgrades, and implement a Tourism Strategy to boost our economy.

I'm running because I'm passionate about Cockburn, the people and the place. I'm trustworthy and dependable, a problem solver who doesn't make empty promises and delivers any commitments I make. I think outside the box to find workable solutions. I've worked with many not-for-profits so understand the value of money, the need for efficiency, accountability and transparency.

After 6 years on Council I have a proven track record of fighting for community-driven decision making, affordability, liveability, safety, canopy and biodiversity. Public consultation is key and the City should invest more in existing assets and in increased support for small businesses.

I am not a member of a political party. I have a Masters in Law (Cambridge University), lecture at Notre Dame, am an award-winning journalist and play the violin. Thank you.
 

'Delivering Strong Accountable Leadership' is my campaign slogan underpinned by demonstrated family and community values. A vote to re-elect me as your mayor will ensure continued economic growth through job creation, partnerships across our business and education sectors and the wider community. Responsible financial management, the provision of purpose built community facilities, reducing traffic hot spots, and expanding other modes of sustainable transport. Climate change, mitigation, protection of our wetlands, bushland and coastal dunes, flora and fauna, increased tree canopy and promoting green corridors going forward will be a priority; as will a focus on safety and security, opportunities for our amazing volunteers, youth, seniors and those with a disability while leaving no-one behind in our inclusive multicultural community. I've proudly called Cockburn home for 32 years, living here with my wife Michele and our son Hunter. As a long-serving Councillor, I've worked on all key City committees and understand the challenges and opportunities facing our community.

Cockburn needs a new direction. We deserve strong, practical leadership to guide us through growth, development, and environmental challenges.

Community Safety Matters
Crime, hooning, and antisocial behaviour remain serious concerns. I'll strengthen ties between Police, CoSafe, and residents to make our neighbourhoods safer.

I'm Grace Redfern, a biologist, member of WA Socialists, and renter in Hammond Park. In my work I see firsthand how climate change and land degradation are harming our ecosystems and species, including Cockburn locals like the Carnaby's Cockatoo. I know our community values biodiversity and fears the loss of habitat. That's why I'm running for Central Ward.

I'm committed to making Cockburn a place that everyone can enjoy. At a time when the cost of living and housing crises are hitting everyone hard this means fighting to make sure the council steps in to provide affordable and quality community services for all. This means putting more services into public hands and improving local facilities.

I am also committed to keeping Cockburn nuclear free and oppose state and federal government plans to turn Perth's southern suburbs into US nuclear naval bases.

As a member of WA Socialists I want to fight to make Cockburn a place that puts the needs of people before profit.
 

Bibra Lake has been my home for over 12 years, with over six of those years spent volunteering in our community, including leading the Bibra Lake Residents Association since 2023.

I believe that our community deserves a representative who is committed to engaging with the grassroots - the residents, businesses and community groups who make our area a vibrant community. If elected, my promise is to remain connected at the grassroots level, maintaining a constant connection to our community to hear directly from you on the issues that matter.

I am committed to working towards improving community safety, protecting our natural environment and providing the infrastructure that matters - from roads and footpaths to community and sporting hubs, whilst supporting our local economy.

As your local Councillor and Deputy Mayor, I have strong financial management and governance experience with a proven track record of delivering for our community such as:
• More CCTV, better park lighting and bringing CoSafe inhouse
to keep our streets safer
• Upgraded sports facilities like, Malabar Park BMX
• Protecting services like bulk waste, collections and tip passes
• Addressing congestion and making our roads safer

But there is still more to do. With your support, I'll keep championing the Tempest Park and Beeliar Reserve upgrades, installation of traffic lights at Beeliar/Dunraven, and fix the Cockburn ARC waterslides.

I am a senior medical scientist in my 29th year in public health and have a BSc and an MBA from Curtin Uni. I respect the scientific method, good leadership and critical thinking. My greatest love is my family, more than half of whom live, work, and go to school in the City of Cockburn. I got my degrees while raising my children, so time management is my superpower!

As an independent candidate in Bibra Lake in 2025 I got to know this community and heard their concerns. Safe streets, public amenity, and protecting the environment were some primary concerns.

I have attended council meetings and listened to the public and see that new perspectives would be very beneficial to outcomes for the residents. I would love to continue to serve in the role of councilor, in the community I now call home. I believe my unique set of skills in scientific analysis, management, public speaking, policy formation, and raising a family equip me to make a very well-rounded contribution if given the chance.

It has been an honour to serve as your Central Ward Councillor for the past 12 years. During this time, I've remained deeply involved in our community and passionate about achieving the best outcomes for all residents.

My commitment to our area extends beyond Council duties. I proudly volunteer as a firefighter with the South Coogee Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade and have served as a Justice of the Peace for the past 10 years.

Throughout my time on Council, I've been actively involved in all Council committees and will continue to advocate strongly on your behalf. Issues such as crime, hooning, and antisocial behaviour are serious concerns for our community. I remain committed to strengthening partnerships between Police, CoSafe, and residents to make our neighbourhoods safer for everyone.

Balancing development with the protection of our natural environment is also vital. I've consistently stood as a strong advocate for both responsible development and environmental conservation.
 

Serving on Council would be an honour. My name is Marcin Gabriel-Borowski. I am 46, married to a beautiful wife and two children: aged 11 and 8. I've spent more than 33 years living and growing alongside the people of Cockburn. My roots run deep here, starting from my childhood in Yangebup, when neighbours knew each other by name and the main thoroughfare was Yangebup Road, back before the freeway reached Beeliar Drive. I became a tradie at 19 and earned my degree from Murdoch University at 24. Working in financial services across London, and roles in local (City of Perth), state, and federal (NDIS) Government as well as not-for-profit and private sectors in Perth. I’m committed to fiscally responsible governance, protecting vital services, engaging meaningfully with the community, and balancing immediate needs with long-term development. If elected, I promise to listen, represent your views, seek funding for key initiatives, and deliver outcomes for Cockburn as our community grows.
 

I'm Josh. I grew up in Banjup and l'm a homegrown musician with a professional background in IT, now studying to be a primary school teacher.

As a child the books and programs at Cockburn Library brought me joy and adventure, so I know why local
government matters. I want the council to provide more support for creative arts and to continue improving our parks and amenities.

I'm a passionate advocate for social justice, active in Stop AUKUS WA, Teachers for Palestine, and Socialist Alliance. I have experience leading campaigns for better wages and conditions for exploited workers in tourism.

We need a council that fights to protect Cockburn Sound by keeping it nuclear free, opposing overdevelopment and keeping Fremantle Port. It should also advocate for Metronet investment west of the freeway. Councils should serve the community not property investors. Planning and advocacy should prioritise affordable housing for
working people.

Together we can put people and the planet first.
 

Over the years, I've proudly shown my commitment to the people of Cockburn not just through words, but through real action. As a volunteer firefighter with the South Coogee Bushfire Brigade for the past five years, I've stood on the front lines for our community's safety and I've worked tirelessly to address crime and safety concerns across the City of Cockburn, building strong relationships and advocating for lasting solutions with significant successes.

These efforts also led to the formation of the "Voice of Cockburn" a city-wide residents' association.

What drives me is simple: ensuring that every resident and their family can live in a safe, connected, and thriving
community. I believe in leadership that listens, consults, and follows through.

My vision is to represent you not just with a seat at the table, but as a voice that reflects your concerns, your priorities, and your hopes for the future of Central Ward.

Having lived in Cockburn for the past six years, both renting and owning my home, I've grown to love our city its quirks and its strengths. But I believe more can be done, especially across all suburbs. I'm running for council to help turn Cockburn into a powerhouse: investing in local green initiatives like community batteries and solar panels, supporting small businesses, and ensuring our rates are used to build a stronger, more connected community. starting with a new app called Cockburn Now. This simple, accessible tool would let people report issues like potholes, track city projects, pay rates, make complaints, and stay updated. My family and I migrated from Singapore in 1991 under business migration visa. Since then I've been living in East ward for nearly 34 years. Apart speaking fluent English, I can speak fluent Mandarin and other Chinese dialects like Hakka, Cantonese, Hokkien and Teochew. I'm a champion of a multiracial and multicultural society living as a harmonious community based on mutual respect, tolerance and understanding. I strongly believe in the qualities of integrity, compassion and humility. I've great desire to do my utmost best to serve the residents and look after your needs and welfare wholeheartedly. Hi, I’m Lilijana Nicholls. I have a strong background in youth advocacy, science communication and government, and I bring a new, youthful perspective to local issues.

I want to ensure Cockburn continues to be a vibrant, connected City where every voice is heard. I’m running to listen, act, and help make our East Ward the best it can be.

I've lived in the west ward my whole life and proudly continue my family's legacy of service in our community.

For the past eight years, I've represented you on Council, chaired the Governance Committee, and made Council my full-time focus so I'm always available and accessible.

I've fought to keep rates among the lowest in Perth, and despite constant challenges, we built Malabar Park, protected verge collections and tip passes, and ensured Coogee Live remains our biggest community event.
