CEO position

The City of Cockburn's response to the Cockburn Gazette, 21.4.2020 & Cockburn City Herald on 23.4.2020 re: CEO position

Cockburn Gazette, 21.4.2020 -
Question: Moving forward, will Mr Stuart Downing remain in place as the acting chief executive in the interim?
Question: When will the search for a new CEO begin?
Question: What will be the process for recruitment and who will be involved? Will the city set up a panel?
Question: Was a decision made to pay out Mr Stephen Cain on the balance of 12 months of his contract?

Answer: The City of Cockburn CEO Performance Review Committee will meet in the near future and a number of matters including recruitment will be discussed at that meeting.
Once Council has considered and determined the matter, the position will be advertised publicly as required under the Local Government Act 1995.
As the details of the former CEO’s employment contract is a confidential matter, as are details of all staff employment contracts, no further details can be provided.

Cockburn City Herald, 23.4.2020 -
Question: Can we get a confirmation on whether Mr Cain submitted his resignation or had his contract either terminated or not renewed?
Question: Also, can we get confirmation that the Department of Local Government is now holding some sort of inquiry into the matter? What level of inquiry has the department initiated and will the City co-operate?
Question: Has there been an indication of whether the City or the Department will fund that inquiry?
Question: Can we get an indication of what the current inquiry has so far cost the City, and what the projections for the overall cost?
Question: When will the City be starting a recruitment process for a new CEO?
