Federal COVID-19 recovery funding

The City of Cockburn's response to the Cockburn Gazette on 26.5.20 re: Federal COVID-19 recovery funding -

Question: With regards to the city receiving $1,077,107 in federal funding for road and community projects, are there any specific footpaths or cycling paths the City consider to be in need of an upgrade?

Answer: Any funding will be acquitted in accordance with the Federal Government’s guidelines.
At this stage it is likely that the City will use the funds on improvements to our footpath and cycleway network. Footpath and shared path rehabilitation and upgrade projects are assessed each year as part of the annual budget formulation for consideration by Council. The funding just announced by the Federal Government can also be spent on a range of other community infrastructure such as street lighting, community building refurbishment, public open space upgrade and road reserve maintenance. The allocation of the funds is yet to be determined by Council as part of the 20/21 budget preparation.

Question:  In regards to the City’s ccling (sic) network as a whole, what is their intentions and end-goal for the network?

Answer: For more information on the City’s cycling network, please see the ‘City of Cockburn Cycling and Walking Network Plan 2016-2021’ on the City’s TravelSmart website
