Elected Member proof of Covid vax re dining at Council before meetings

The City of Cockburn's response to the Fremantle Herald on 15 March 2022 about Proof of Covid vaccination rules for Elected Members dining at Council before meetings

Questions:
• Do councillors/staff have to provide a vaccination certificate before being allowed to sit in the councillors lounge when meals or snacks are served?

• Are staff serving the meals required to have their vaccination certificate?

• Was this as per the state government regulations, or was this something implemented at the City of Cockburn’s initiative?

Response
: At the moment, Elected Members are not required to show proof of vaccination at pre-Council Meeting briefings where dinner is served, although they are encouraged to do so.

This is in keeping with State Government direction. If the State enters a lockdown this will change.

Elected Members currently have the option to attend these briefings in person or face-to-face. The City strongly encourages the online option.

Meals are boxed (so no service required) and can be eaten in the dining room with social distancing in place and our catering contractors are vaccinated.

These measures are part of our risk mitigation strategies as determined by our Crisis Management Team.
