Parking revenue across Perth councils

The City of Cockburn's 14.7.23 response to PerthNow about parking revenue across Perth councils

Question: What is Cockburn’s total revenue from parking enforcement last year? What is the projected revenue for this year?
Answer:
Infringement revenue for 2022-2023 FY – approximately $310,000, based on infringements issued. It's important to note that every year a portion of these infringements go unpaid and are referred to the Fines Enforcement Agency
Projected revenue for 2023-2024 FY – $550,000.

Question: What is a standard parking fine worth in Cockburn city-owned car parks or streetside no-parking zones in 2023/24?
Answer:
  • $80 or $100 – for illegal parking in parking stations and illegal on-road parking
  • $500 – for offences related to ACROD bays.
Question: Are there any other major changes to parking control measures in 2023/24?
Answer:
The City is now using Mobile License Plate Recognition technology. It is also trialling below ground sensors to monitor parked vehicle conditions in time stipulated areas, parking bays and hotspots. The inground sensors are linked in real time to digital signs and provide way-finding guidance to visitors in an effort to reduce illegal parking.
