Mayoral visit to Split, Croatia

The City of Cockburn's response to StreetWise Media about Mayor Logan Howlett's visit to Split, Croatia

Question: I wanted to get some brief details re Mayor Logan Howlett's visit to Split (when) and the delegation tour from Split this October.
Answer:
City of Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett was invited by City of Split Mayor Ivica Puljak to attend the Split Open Day on 7 May 2023. This event is in celebration of the Feast of St. Domnius, patron saint of the City.

The City of Cockburn paid for the Mayor’s flights, transfers and accommodation from 5-8 May from the Elected Member travel budget in accordance with the City’s Sister City Relationships and Engagement Policy. The Mayor paid for any other expenses.

The Mayors of all the City of Split's sister cities across the world were invited to attend this celebration event. It was the first occasion in 15 years that Mayor Howlett had accepted the invitation. Mayor Howlett also met the Croatian President and members of the Parliament during his visit and was seated at their table for lunch - a great honour.

Mayor Howlett was pleased to meet the mayor of Split for the first time after his election in 2022 and was able to discuss the forthcoming delegation from Split. The Croatian community is already planning for the delegation visit in late October 2023.
