Enright Reserve dog attack

The City of Cockburn's response to Seven News about a dog attack at Enright Reserve, Hamilton Hill, 2 January 2024

Question: I’m hoping to get a statement within the next few hours in regards to the small Chihuahua killed in a dog attack in Hamilton Hill at Enright Reserve about three weeks ago.
Answer:
City of Cockburn Rangers have finalised an investigation into a dog attack at Enright Reserve, Hamilton Hill on 29 November.

As part of an investigation, City Rangers seized the attacking dog which was surrendered by the owner for euthanasia by a veterinarian.
As a declared dangerous dog, it was unable to be rehomed.

The dog’s owner was issued an infringement relating to the dog attack.

The City of Cockburn is saddened by all dog attacks in the community, particularly those that result in injury or death.

We encourage dog owners to practice responsible pet ownership to prevent these devastating incidents.

This includes correctly securing dogs on their property to prevent escape, ensuring dogs are correctly registered and microchipped, obtaining accredited dog training preferably from puppyhood, ensuring regular supervised socialisation, keeping dogs on a lead in on-leash areas, and under control in off-leash areas.
