Success Regional Recreational Reserve redevelopment

The City's response to PerthNow Cockburn about the investigation into the use of the former Hammon Road fire station for an expansion of Success Recreational Reserve's facilities, 13.2.25

Question: Who will complete the site investigation, has it begun, if not when will it begin?
Answer:
The site is currently owned by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), and any site investigation is yet to be determined. As the landowner, DFES holds responsibility for assessing site conditions, and the City will seek to engage with DFES to understand any potential constraints. It is important to note that this investigation is one of a number of prioritised actions identified by Council as part of its broader planning efforts.

Question: Is the investigation linked to the ‘cancer cluster’ which closed the station in 2015?
Answer:
Questions regarding past site conditions and any related investigations should be directed to DFES as the responsible agency.

Question: The media release states the council “hopes to use this site for future expansion of netball infrastructure,” what is netball infrastructure specifically? Does this mean netball courts? Or a netball clubhouse perhaps?
Answer:
The specific netball infrastructure will be determined through further planning and investigation however the master plan recommends four additional netball courts and an expansion of the car park.
