Floodlight installation at Santich Park

The City's response to PerthNow about floodlight installation at Santich Park 23.5.25

Question: Why is the installation of floodlights at Santich Park (home of the South Coogee Junior Football Club) taking longer than promised?
Answer:
The project is taking longer due to Western Power’s timing for supply upgrades. The City submitted an application to Western Power for upgrades to the power supply in February 2024. Queries regarding the timing for the upgrade work should be directed to Western Power.

Question: When is the installation expected to be complete?
Answer:
Once Western Power completes its supply upgrades the City’s contractor will undertake necessary work for the new lights to be operational.

Question: What does the city suggest the SCJFC do since football season has begun, and they can’t train safely after 5.30pm?
Answer:
The existing floodlights have remained operational throughout the project. As with many operational assets, they are subject to occasional failures requiring repair. These repairs are undertaken when referred to the City. If there are safety concerns across any of the City’s floodlit reserves the City will work directly with impacted sporting clubs to address those concerns.
