A quick guide to organising a community event in Cockburn

Events are fun but they must follow the rules to ensure they are safe for everyone. The rules vary and may appear complicated, but we are here to help. Below is just a brief summary of the process you should take when planning an event in Cockburn. The full guide is available in the link above.

Got a clear idea about your event?
Then contact the City's Senior Environmental Health Officer at [email protected] or call us on 08 9411 3444, six months prior to your event to discuss the next steps and to make sure your preferred venue is available.

Locations and venues
The City has a range of outdoor settings and a variety of indoor venues for hire. Contact the Recreation Services team to discuss.

Support for your event
To find out what support is available to you, contact the Community Development team.

Step 3
Event budget
Create a realistic budget. This is essential so you don't overspend. If funding is required for your event, contact the City's Grant and Research team.

Assistance provided by the City

Free banner spaces

The City provides free-to-hire banner spaces for community groups, not-for-profit organisations and residents. Simply complete the Cockburn Community Sign Hire Application.

Free equipment and trailer hire

The City provides free to hire equipment and trailer to volunteers and not for profit organisations. Equipment available includes BBQ, marquee, tables, esky and giant games. The trailer also includes reusable serve ware and decorations to ensure your event is environmentally-friendly. Simply complete the application form below and submit it to the City.

Free water-refill stations

The City’s provides free water-refill stations and water fountains to reduce the number of plastic bottles used at your event. To book the water-refill sttaions, contact the City's Events Team on 08 9411 3444 or [email protected]
