Things to Do for Families and Children

Programs, events and workshops

The City hosts a range of activities, programs, workshops and events for families in Cockburn. For a full list of events for families and children in the City visit Events and Workshops. Some of these run all year during school terms, and some are in particular terms e.g. free skateboard coaching clinics for 6-12 year olds are held only in Term 1 and 4.

Froggy's Fun on the Green

Froggy’s Fun on the Green is a free, family-friendly mobile outdoor play program for anyone with children aged 0 to 5 years. Held during school terms, Mondays are at Manning Park and Tuesday sessions rotate each term to different parks/venues i.e. four other parks/venues will be visited during the course of the year. In the third term the Tuesday session is held at a venue with an indoor option.

The program includes activities for children and is a chance for mums, dads and carers to connect with others, access information and get support in their parenting roles in a family-friendly environment. Teddy Bears Picnic

Teddy Bears Picnic is a free, family-friendly event held each October at Manning Park for children and families. It offers face painting, entertainment, free rides, an animal farm, information on parenting, support services and much more!  Teddy Bears Picnic now incorporates a Hello Baby Corner to cater for parents who have babies or those who are pregnant. The Hello Baby calendar is a free developmental calendar provided to all new parents in Cockburn via child health nurses or handed out in the Hello Baby corner at the annual Teddy Bears Picnic event. Regular programs for families and children 

Visit Events and Workshops, our library page or our playgroups, prekindys and kindy page for information on regular activities, workshops and events such as Beeliar Hub and all library programs including PramJams, Storytime, Learning English through Song, Creative Kids, Bookstars and one-off events. Many of the City’s events are free. My Time Ngaany Djang

My Time is a free support group for Aboriginal parents and grandparents who are looking for a relaxed and comfortable environment to connect with others and share experiences. Come and make new friendships and memories while sharing food, craft and learning about interesting topics.  

The group runs on Tuesdays during school terms from midday-2pm at the Coolbellup Hub.
There is free childcare available.

Cockburn ARC is the City's Aquatic and Recreation and Centre, offering heaps of fun and fitness opportunities for families and children.
