About the Reuse Shop

The Reuse Shop at Henderson Waste Recovery Park gives household items, which would have previously been crushed under a landfill compactor, a new lease of life. Transfer Station staff sort, inspect and assess household and other items that are dropped off by the public, for their re-use potential, and then display them for sale at the Reuse shop. People who may miss the annual junk verge collection can take items to the Reuse Shop for the cost of a trailer pass or standard entry fee when delivering other waste. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I am interested in …. do you have one?
Items comes and go depending on demand. It is best to come down and have a look at what is in stock.
Why isn't the Reuse Shop open 7 days per week?
The Henderson Waste Recovery Park is open 7 days per week to receive any items you may have for the Reuse Shop. The Reuse Shop is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and on Public Holidays. This allows sufficient time for the Henderson Waste Recovery Park to present stock for sale and is in line with the demand from our customers.
I have heard Armadale Landfill donates all profits to local charities. Why does Cockburn not do the same?
The Reuse Shop keeps the cost of items low which consequently results in lower profits. All income generated from the Henderson Waste Recovery Park is used to fund major community projects around the City including the Cockburn ARC for example.
Why can’t I drop off items to the shop for free?
It is important that we comply with all Australian Safety Standards. As such, some items do not meet these standards and are unsuitable for resale. An example is a secondhand child’s cot. It may be in great condition although it will not pass Australian Safety Standards and is not suitable for resale. Some items have no resale value, for example a heavily stained broken sofa will not sell.
