Find out about the various water testing responsibilities and practices within the City of Cockburn, ensuring you stay informed about the quality and safety of your water sources.
Testing of scheme water is the responsibility of the Water Corporation. Please contact them directly for any queries relating to scheme water.
The City regularly analyses the microbiological content of non-scheme drinking water from various public premises.
Many rural and resource-zoned properties within the City rely on either a rainwater tank, a bore supply, or both.
A 90,000-litre tank should meet the minimum water needs of most families, but a larger tank is preferable, especially during drier periods.
The City advises installing a 40mm diameter camlock coupling at the tank's base to facilitate cleaning and to serve as an emergency water source for firefighters.
The Department of Health provides more detailed information on using water tanks on your property.
The City tests all public swimming pools and spas monthly to ensure their water safety complies with the Department of Health’s code of practice.
During the summer months, the City conducts monthly bacteriological sampling of ocean water at Jervoise Bay, Woodman Point, Coogee Beach, Port Coogee, John Graham Recreation Reserve, and Robbs Jetty dog beach.
This program is part of a state-wide study of the quality of ocean waters coordinated by the Department of Health.
You can make a complaint or report an issue via the Public Health Complaint Form.
Please contact the City’s Health Services team for more information on safe water on 08 9411 3444 or email [email protected].
