Manning Stairs and lookouts are a recent addition to the City’s list of attractions. 192 stairs wind their way up the Manning Ridge. The City has constructed two lookouts at the top of which offer spectacular views of the Darling Scarp and Cockburn Sound.
The Manning Park stairs and lookouts are located within the beautiful Manning Park Reserve, which includes a picturesque lake, BBQ and picnic facilities and hosts a range of events. The lookouts provide spectacular views of Jervoise Bay, Cockburn Sound and the Darling Scarp. The distance from the homestead to the lookouts via the Davilak Trail is approximately one kilometre. The Manning Stairs are a popular spot for exercise. We recommend using the stairs during daylight hours only as no lighting is provided. The reconstituted limestone and cement stairs consist of 192 steps, 5 landings and 4 seats and are Cockburn’s version of Perth’s Jacob’s Ladder.
The City has completed the construction of the Manning Park stairway from the southern car park at Manning Lake to the eastern lookout with a trail connecting to the recently upgraded western lookout. The stairs form part of the Davilak Heritage Trail, which starts at Azelia Ley Homestead, winding their way up the ridge towards the lookouts.
