Playgrounds with accessible and inclusive play equipment
The City of Cockburn is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive community for everyone in which information, services, facilities, decision-making processes, and other activities are open and available to all residents.
Some of the accessible and inclusive playgrounds shown in orange on the map make it easy for children in wheelchairs or on crutches to access the play equipment. Some playgrounds also cater for children with learning difficulties and have equipment which allows them to experiment with sound, texture, or movement.
As outlined in the City's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan, we aim to develop more accessible and inclusive playgrounds throughout Cockburn.

Revitalising our playgrounds
The City of Cockburn has over 220 playgrounds. Every year some of these reach the end of their useful lives, so we replace them with new, similar type equipment. To better meet the local community's needs, we produce three designs for each playground and ask residents mid year which one they prefer. The design with the most votes is installed. Installation of the playgrounds usually takes place from October to February.
To find out if any of the playgrounds being renewed in the current financial year are in your suburb and what design was chosen, visit our community consultation website. You can also sign up to the community consultation website to receive an alert for when the next round of playground designs are released for community feedback, as well as other projects taking place in Cockburn.
Details of playground projects that have commenced or will be starting this financial year can be found on My Suburb page.
