About the event

Swoop along to learn what we can do in our communities and backyards to support birds, especially the endangered Carnaby's Black Cockatoo! Special presenter, Merryn Pryor - WA Black Cockatoo Project Coordinator at Birdlife Australia, will introduce you to your local birds, what they need to coexist in our urban landscapes and guide you through the basics of providing habitat in your own garden - no matter the size of your space. You'll learn about plant selection, and water and nesting resource provision, as well as how best to use the ReWild Perth website to help you plan.

Light refreshments will be provided and each participant will go home with a seedling to kick start their ReWild journey!

This event is delivered by Birdlife Australia and ReWild Perth in partnership with the South West Corridor Development Foundation partnership and the City of Cockburn. The event forms a part of the 'Building Resilient Landscapes in the Swan Region' project funded by the Australian Government Natural Heritage Trust and Perth Natural Resource Management - a member of the Commonwealth Regional Delivery Partners panel.

About the WA Tree Festival

Trees are crucial for wildlife – they provide shelter, food, and habitats for countless species, all while helping to cool our environment and improve our wellbeing. The WA Tree Festival brings together local councils and community groups across the state to celebrate the vital role trees play in supporting wildlife.

In the lead-up to and throughout the festival, we’re hosting events and initiatives focused on greening Cockburn and protecting local wildlife.

The WA Tree Festival runs from 12 April to 10 May across WA.

From raising awareness about how trees support wildlife to creating connections with nature, discover an event near you and help make a difference for our local wildlife!
