Feel good at Cockburn Rotary Spring Fair!

Spring Fair:27OCTOBER2024
Feel good about your community at this year’s Cockburn Rotary Spring Fair and FROSH Youth Festival at Manning Park on Sunday 27 October.

The ever-popular family fair provides a raft of free and low-cost entertainment including:
  • Markets and stalls
  • Food trucks
  • Sideshow alley
  • Local and visiting musicians and entertainers
  • Circus skills how-to sessions
  • Environmental workshops
  • Spectacular Drone Show under the night sky.

But there’s so much more to the Spring Fair than meets the eye!

Held annually for more than 25 years, the fair has raised more than $300,000 for event partner and co-organiser Cockburn Rotary Club.

President Peter Hodgson said all proceeds were donated to projects in the Cockburn community, along with well-known national and international Rotary programs.

Some of these include Rotary International polio eradication and emergency disaster relief programs, support for developing communities in Timor-Leste and rural Bali, plus scholarships and grants for Cockburn schools and community groups.

“We recently donated $5,200 to a Cockburn primary school for the purchase of reading books to help improve literacy rates and we give grants to multiple community groups so they can hold Christmas and other community events for local families throughout the year,” Mr Hodgson said.

“The Spring Fair is a major annual fundraiser for the club and these days, it raises between $15,000-$18,000 that we donate to worthy causes.”

City of Cockburn Deputy Mayor Chontelle Stone said the Spring Fair was a feel-good event that always drew a crowd to its picturesque Hamilton Hill venue.

“As a part of the Cockburn Live event series, the fair is one of many City events on offer this summer. They are an engaging and memorable way to bring residents, friends and people wanting to visit the City together,” Deputy Mayor Stone said.

“These shared experiences help build understanding, respect and collaboration in Cockburn. Everyone who attends the fair is helping Cockburn Rotary Club raise funds to help others in our community, and further afield, and what could feel better than that.”

The FROSH Youth Festival, located close to the stage, is a fun-packed interactive activity zone aimed at kids and young adults. This year’s attractions include the Ricochet Circus tent, a dunk tank, henna tattoos, a pirate slide, gladiator inflatables and a silent disco.

The carbon neutral event will feature Go2Cup bins and stations which will supply reusable cutlery, plates and cups for use with food vendor offerings.

Parking is by gold coin entry, with proceeds donated to Cockburn Rotary Club.
