Look alive for Cockburn LIVE!

Back for 2024-25, the Cockburn LIVE event season promises to be bigger and better than ever!

Cockburn LIVE is a bespoke program designed to celebrate Cockburn's vibrant community while creating an inclusive and accessible experience. The diverse lineup of events is dedicated to showcasing the best of our community, proudly highlighting our cultural diversity and providing opportunities for residents to connect.

Our last event season attracted 74,000 people to a variety of largely FREE events and activities across Cockburn, and with 12 events planned for the coming warmer months, Cockburn LIVE 2024-25 will offer something for everyone.

Kicking off with the always popular Fur Run for dog lovers at Spearwood’s beautiful MacFaull Park on Sunday 15 September, the Cockburn LIVE season is family friendly and bursting with exciting activities and entertainment for all ages.

Cockburn LIVE event highlights to mark in your calendar include:
  • Fur Run – Sunday 15 September
  • Side Splitter Comedy Festival – 4-5, 11-12 October
  • Teddy Bears Picnic – Wednesday 9 October
  • Cockburn Rotary Spring Fair – Sunday 27 October
  • Christmas on the Coast – Sunday 15 December
  • Footy Splash – January school holidays
  • Coogee Beach Festival – Sunday 26 January
  • Beeliar Sun Sets community concert – Saturday 22 February
  • Coogee Live – 8-9 March
  • Show Off Art Exhibition – 5-13 April
  • Mosaic Festival – Saturday 22 March
  • Easter Fair – Saturday 19 April

City of Cockburn Deputy Mayor Chontelle Stone said the Cockburn LIVE event season was something the community was proud of, judging by last year’s turnout of 74,000 people across its multiple events, a 75+ per cent increase on the previous season.

“We engage our community to help deliver events that you, our residents, have told us you love, sometimes over many, many years,” Deputy Mayor Stone said.

“We delight in bringing revitalised old favourites to life each year, like Fur Run, Teddy Bears Picnic, Spring Fair and the Show Off Art Exhibition.

“We also revel in delivering the award-winning Coogee Live for two-days of fun family festivities along our pristine Coogee coastline, plus the exciting Beeliar Sun Sets community concert series which attracted about 11,500 live music lovers last year.

“An important aspect of gathering thousands of people to enjoy all this affordable fun is finding solutions for litter and rubbish, and we’ve achieved amazing things in this space too.

“Due to the City’s Wastewise Events Policy, across Cockburn LIVE 2023-24’s 12 events attended by 74,000 people, just 400kg of waste was sent to landfill. That equates to just 5g per person.

“We did this by partnering with Go2Cup to provide 56,000 reusable and compostable cutlery and crockery. We also sent 500kg of organic waste to our composting partner WRITE Solutions, equating to about 7g per person.

“Our community should be proud of these achievements as we plan to increase this success for the 2024-25 Cockburn LIVE season, where all events are carbon neutral.”

Deputy Mayor Stone said the season’s events would remain largely free, or low-cost.

“At a time when families are feeling the cost-of-living pinch, it is more important than ever to provide easily accessible, high-quality community events that provide an opportunity for connection.

“From local concerts to Christmas celebrations, street festivals, live music, interactive art, fantastic food trucks, kids’ entertainment, and so much more right here in our own backyard – everyone is welcome to join in the excitement of Cockburn LIVE.”
