Teddy Bears Picnic lands at Manning Park on 9 October

Event: 9OCTOBER2024
Elmo and Friends from Sesame Street will be special guests at the 2024 Teddy Bears Picnic at Manning Park this October.

The ever-popular picnic, where everyone’s favourite teddy bear is invited to come along, will be held 9.30am-1pm on Wednesday 9 October at the picturesque Manning Park.

Mayor Logan Howlett said according to Census population statistics more than 8,000 children aged 0-5 lived in Cockburn in 2021, with that number estimated to increase to more than 10,000 by 2046.

“Children are our future and as such, the City provides a whole range of services and activities for children and young people of all ages, and the Teddy Bears Picnic is just one event we hold each year especially for families with young children,” Mayor Howlett said.

Expect a huge list of tried and tested attractions, and some new entertainment options, including a sideshow alley with showbags, and $7 rides and games.

Free entertainment at the Hamilton Hill location will include:
  • Sesame Street – Elmo and Friends stage show
  • Roving entertainment – stilt walkers and superheroes
  • Pony rides
  • Sensory play
  • Giant bubbles
  • Energizer zone
  • Magic, music and more on stage
  • Face painting
  • Meet and greet with the local volunteer bush fire brigade
  • Cuddly Animal Farm
  • Inflatable obstacles and slides
  • Toddler zones
  • A Hello Baby corner with community information stalls on parenting, support services and much more.

A range of food and beverage trucks will be onsite, $4 Teddy Bears Picnic lunch packs will be available from Friends of the Community, or pack a picnic to enjoy on the day.

Cockburn Community Toy Swap will return in 2024 in the spirit of reusing toys in good quality condition.

Each year in Australia more than 27 million toys end up in landfill. Attendees are encouraged to bring along good quality toys their children no longer play with, to swap with more appealing options, for free.

Like all City of Cockburn events, Teddy Bears Picnic is waste wise and includes free filtered water to refill drink bottles, and reusable and compostable alternatives to single use plastics.
