The Grinch has not stolen Christmas in Cockburn!
While you may spy the antics of the grouchy, green-faced character at Christmas on the Coast, his disdain for the festive season won’t stand a chance against the glittering attractions planned for this year’s free family event at Coogee Beach.
About 6,000 people flocked to Coogee Beach Reserve for the inaugural 2023 Christmas on the Coast event, and due to its huge success, this year’s festivities will begin an hour earlier, providing free entertainment from 4 to 9pm on Sunday 15 December.
From ‘fresh’ snow to skilled Christmas angels soaring above the crowd on sway poles, to a dazzling 4m-high star, a giant surfing Santa, and a magical 1km Christmas trail, be prepared for your festive dreams to come true in Cockburn in 2024.
Santa’s longtime friend and City of Cockburn Mayor Logan Howlett said he couldn’t wait to again enjoy the pure fun and fantasy of Christmas on the Coast with family and friends.
“Everyone is welcome, locals and visitors alike, to soak up the Christmas spirit here in Cockburn along our beautiful coastline,” Mayor Howlett said.
“The interactive Christmas trail, which features an array of colourful characters and talented performers, is a wonderful experience accessible to those with prams and wheelchairs.
“These talented performers all end up on the central stage for a Christmas medley led by MC Lisa Woodbrook, featuring Santa himself, with a hilarious cameo appearance by the grumpy Grinch.
“Picnicking crowds will also enjoy entertainment from The Godlemans, Perth’s own talented musical family trio, plus the Australian Girls Choir, young Perth vocalist Gisella Colletti and much more.”
About 12 food vendors will be on site at the carbon neutral event with Go2Cup stations supplying reusable cutlery, plates and cups.
