A wildlife hospital treating sick and injured animals in Perth's south is struggling with a huge surge in admission numbers amid fears the facility soon won't have the capacity to treat any more animals.
WA Wildlife Hospital rescues and rehabilitates native animals and operates as an emergency care hospital for injured creatures great and small. Over the past 15 years, admissions to the Bibra Lake facility have increased by an average of 17 per cent each year.

The voice behind famed Aussie anthems Throw Your Arms Around Me and Holy Grail is headlining a free community concert in Beeliar.
Aria award-winning Hunters and Collectors frontman Mark Seymour and his new outfit The Undertow are the main act for this year’s Beeliar Sun Sets Concert, which will also feature acclaimed rockers The Choirboys and their 1988 classic hit Run To Paradise.

The City of Cockburn is investigating whether the former Hammond Road fire station, closed in 2015 over health concerns, can be repurposed to support the Success Netball Association’s $26m redevelopment plans.
The site is owned by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, which has yet to determine its future.

Tuesday 18 February
A pilot escaped without injury after a small plane nose-dived into the landing strip at Jandakot Airport on Sunday.

Emergency services rushed to the airstrip about 2.10pm after reports a light plane had crashed after its descent, but the male pilot — the sole occupant — was unharmed.

Monday 17 February
The City of Cockburn has appointed eight new members to its Design Review Panel for 2025-2027.

The panel, comprising experts in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, and planning, will provide invaluable input into the design quality of significant and complex development applications in Cockburn.
