Fire Bans

Total Fire Ban

A Total Fire Ban (TFB) is declared when a fire is likely to spread rapidly, or if widespread fires are already burning and firefighting resources are stretched.

TFBs are not the same thing as Prohibited Burning Time. TFBs can be declared any day of the year.

Visit the Department of Fire and Emergency Services website to find a list of activities you can and can’t do during a TFB and for how to check if there's a TFB in place.

Harvest Vehicle Movement Ban

The City of Cockburn issues Harvest and Vehicle Movement Bans (HVMB) to restrict engine, vehicle, plant, equipment, and machinery use. This reduces the risk of bushfires during fire weather conditions.

HVMBs will be published on the City’s website and social media accounts when they are declared.

High, Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger Ratings

During the Restricted Burning Time you must not burn if the Fire Danger Rating is High, Extreme or Catastrophic. The Fire Danger Rating can be found in the footer of this website or on Emergency WA.
