Work to construct the new Cockburn Bowling and Recreation Facility at Visko Park in Yangebup began on Monday, 4 September. The $9.5M facility will be built by Crothers Construction. More than $4.55M of funding for the project was contributed via a National Stonger Regions Fund grant from the Commonwealth Government. It will include:
A large multi-purpose activity and function room (available for community hire)
A new bowling club members' area with a bar, darts area, TAB and two new bowling greens
Meeting and office facilities
Beach volleyball courts (community hire and membership)
Futsal courts (membership model)
150 car bays including accessible car bays
Vehicle access from Birchley Road
Construction hours are expected to be 7am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and restricted at other times, we will endeavour to minimise disruption to local residents in accordance with the development approval. Works will commence with the site boundary fence being erected followed by excavation of the site and installation of services, this will take approximately 6 weeks before work commences on the structure itself. The overall project is due for completion by July 2018.
