Frequently Asked Questions - My Suburb

Park Projects FAQ's

When will these projects happen?
These projects are scheduled to be started within the 2018/2019 financial year. Exact dates are not available at this point in time unless stated.
Can I give suggestions on what I would like to be included in the park renewal / upgrade?
Yes we can pass suggestions on to our Parks team but due to budget constraints there is not much opportunity for significant variance. Please contact us for more information.
Can we have a nature playground at our park?
Only those projects which state they will be a nature playground will be nature playgrounds. Nature playgrounds are significantly more expensive than standard playgrounds and are therefore installed at regional and/or high use parks only such as Bibra Lake Adventure Playground.
Will I be notified when the park renewal / upgrade is happening?
Signage will be displayed on site approximately 4 months or so before the works begin. If you will be directly affected by these works you will also receive a letter.
Will my local park have toilet facilities?
Toilet facilities are installed at the Citys’ regional high use parks such as Bibra Lake Reserve and Manning Park. The cost of plumbing, installation, maintenance and cleaning makes it unfeasible to install toilet facilities at smaller parks and playgrounds.
Will I be consulted on the park renewal / upgrade?
Park renewals are generally just replacing existing playground equipment ‘like for like’ with minor variations. Public consultation is done on parks projects costing more than $100K.
How can I be kept informed and be involved in public consultation about new parks and playgrounds in my suburb?
You can sign up to be notified about projects that the City consults on Comment on Cockburn.

These projects ae scheduled to be started within the 2018/2019 financial year. More exact timelines will be available in late Sept 2018.

How will I know when there are major roadworks happening in my suburb?
Electronic signage will be displayed at the site of roadworks before and during the work. The City does try to do road re surfacing at night time whenever possible, to reduce traffic disruption.
Will I be consulted about a new footpath in my street?
If the proposed footpath is on your side of the street you will receive a letter and copy of the proposal for your comment.
What side of the street will the footpath be on?
Footpaths are installed on the side of the street that has streetlights.
Will I be notified of any footpath repair work in my street?
If the work is directly in front of your home you will receive a letter and / or doorknock from Council workers.
