About the event

Cockburn Youth Centre and Youth Diversity Inc. are incredibly proud to announce that our Pride and Progress Ball is back for the seventh year in a row!

Cockburn Youth Centre and Youth Diversity Inc. invite you to our seventh annual Pride and Progress Ball! This free event is a chance for all young LGBTQIA+ people ages 15-24 to come together, celebrate and have fun

This is your queer prom/formal; an opportunity to freely be every bit of your fabulous, wonderful and unique self!

This year our theme is MONSTER because it's the day after Halloween (aka Gay Christmas). Our community is often called weird, strange, freaky, creepy, scary but we thrive despite it and often lean into the complexity of the monster. So think a little bit spooky, a tad kooky and a whole lot of fabulosity!

We've got a fantastic evening planned for you, including:

  • Live DJ and dance floor
  • Photobooth
  • Chill-out room/ quiet space
  • Fabulous Feud and other interactive activities
  • Free food and drinks
  • Stalls for organisations and LGBTIQA+ artists/businesses
  • Tabletop roleplaying games
  • And more!

Artist and organisation stalls
Are you a queer artist, maker, business or community organisation? We would love to have you. Stalls are free and are a great way to connect with LGBTQIA+ young people from all over Perth, share your work and build relationships. Register for free through the ticket booking system.

Catering
We will have some delectable, mouth-watering morsels in store for you. And there will be something for everyone, whether you are gluten-free, celiac, vegan, lactose intolerant, etc. Just make sure you let us know your dietary requirements when you book.

What should I wear?
While it's a 'ball,' it's totally up to your interpretation and preference. That might mean fancy suits and ball gowns. It might mean a costume that fits the MONSTER theme. It might be jeans and a tee. It's completely up to you. Feel free to go as over the top as you want! Or not! As long as you feel like you.

Chill-out Space
If you start feeling overwhelmed by the noise or the people, we have you covered. Speak to any staff member and they will let you into our quiet supervised space. You'll be able to soak in the quiet and recharge in our soundproof studio.

Frightening Feud
Fabulous Feud, our beloved game show is back again- but spookier! Make sure you fill out the Frightening Feud questions when you book your tickets. That way your answers get to be a part of the fun on the night! What will play and who will win? We can't wait to find out.

Tabletop roleplaying games
Join our in-house Dungeon Master for a fabulously magical tabletop roleplaying game. Join for the whole night or come and go as you please with this fantastic and marvellous RPG.

How to register?
In order for us to best cater to the needs and accessibility requirements of the young people, organisations and services attending, registration is compulsory. It’s also free and super simple. Just go to our Humanitix
