$7M Beeliar Dve/Stock Rd upgrade

The City of Cockburn welcomes $7M Beeliar Dve/Stock Rd intersection upgrade announcement by Planning Minister Rita Saffioti, emailed to Cockburn Gazette on 18.8.20 -

The City of Cockburn welcomes the announcement by Minister Saffioti on the upgrade of the intersection of Beeliar Drive and Stock Road, which has been an ongoing safety issue for many years.

Mayor Logan Howlett also commended the Hon Francis Logan, MLA, the Member for Cockburn, for his continued lobbying and support for the intersection upgrade.

As well as the increase in turning vehicle capacity at the intersection, pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross either road safely with a single phase control of the traffic lights.

Other benefits will be new lanes on all approaches, new and extended turning pockets, upgraded traffic signals and safety barriers on the western corners of the intersection, plus upgraded street lighting.

“While there will be considerable traffic disruption at times during the construction period, the overall outcome will be a great improvement,” Mayor Howlett said.
