Our mission is to create a safe and healthy community in the City of Cockburn by actively preventing criminal and unwanted activity and promoting the wellbeing of our residents.

What is the CoSafe service?

CoSafe actively patrol the City of Cockburn 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. We are a community safety patrol service focused on deterring unwanted activity and behaviours while promoting a safer community. We are an active set of eyes on the street with the intention to promote community safety.

Our officers are authorised and employed by the City, with specialised training and experience in community safety and deescalation methods. 

How CoSafe can help

CoSafe work closely with local police and other authorises to maintain and promote a safer community. Our CoSafe officers engage directly with the community to address concers and can help with a number of issues should they occur.
Holiday Watch service
Going on holiday? A CoSafe patrol officer can drive past your property while you are away and report anything suspicious to you, an emergency contact, or the police. For more details or to request this service, please visit CoSafe Holiday Watch service.
Security patrols
In consultation with WA Police and reports made by local residents, CoSafe officers conduct targeted vehicle and foot patrols around the City of Cockburn to deter further criminal and unwanted activity.
Suspicious and anti-social behaviour
If it doesn’t look or feel right, but no criminal offences have been committed, CoSafe can conduct a patrol of the area to assess. 

If you report a car:
  • explain why the vehicle and driver are acting suspiciously, e.g. driving slowly and pulling randomly into driveways
  • describe the car using the make, model, colour, registration and any distinguishing features, e.g. car stickers, broken light.
 If you report a person:
  • explain why the person is acting suspiciously, e.g. shining a torch through windows
  • describe the person - gender, colour/length/type of hair, complexion, build, facial hair, tattoos/scars, age and type of clothing.
Anti-social behaviour:
  • General disturbance
  • Acting in an unacceptable way.

CoSafe can attend to conduct a patrol and speak with the person or group if required.

Vandalism
Please report and instances of graffiti to a City facility or any City-owned equipment via the report graffiti form.
Noise complaints

Under the Environmental Protection Act 1986, it is an offence to emit excessive noise that unreasonably affects the health and amenity of surrounding residents. Read more about noise pollution.

Please contact Ranger Services if your complaint is regarding a barking dog. Find out more about how to lodge a complaint.
 
For after hours noise complaints (loud music or construction noise), CoSafe can attend, make observations and submit their observations to the Health Services team. They will also provide information to the involved party regarding noise levels or escalate the situation to police if required.
Security and alarms
CoSafe secure and open many City facilities everyday, as well as respond to City-owned facility alarms and building security concerns. If you have concerns about the security of a City facility please call CoSafe on 1300 26 72 33.
 
CCTV
CoSafe has access to the City's growing CCTV network of more than 800 cameras located around our facilities and public open space. CoSafe can also assist the WA Police with footage when required for any investigations and deploy mobile CCTV trailers in areas as required. 
Assisting Ranger Services after hours
CoSafe can assist with some urgent after hours Ranger Services functions including:
  • picking up lost or wandering dogs
  • hazardous parking
  • illegal burning.
Ranger Services operational hours
Monday to Friday: 7.30am-6pm
Weekends and public holidays: 7.30am-6pm
Christmas Day: Closed

When you should contact police instead of CoSafe
Situations that can be dealt with by CoSafe will be handled quickly and professionally, however some calls will need to be diverted to the police. Ccontact your local police station immediately if you see:
  • family and domestic violence
  • people actively fighting 
  • threats of violence/harm to another person
  • road traffic offences (including off road motorbikes on roads)
  • an offence occurring right now
  • an incident within private property, including businesses.
