Things to Do for Youth and Young Adults

Sports, fitness and aquatics

Cockburn ARC is the City's recreation and aquatic centre, offering heaps of fun and fitness opportunities for youth and young adults.

There are also plenty of walking and cycling opportunities across the City.

Outdoor fun

Spending time outdoors is a great way to have fun and stay healthy. The City offers many places for youth and young adults to visit, including:

Extreme sports and theme parks

The City has a number of BMX tracks and skate parks in Atwell, Coolbellup and Spearwood. The parks are not actively supervised and children under 10 need to be accompanied by a responsible adult, but offer plenty of fun for free.

The City is also home to some of Perth’s most loved family entertainment venues and most exciting tourist attractions including Adventure World, Cockburn Ice Arena and Laser Corps. All destinations are family friendly and provide a great day out for everyone.

Youth volunteering and leadership programs

The City provides many opportunities for youth and young adults to get involved and locally volunteer.

The Youth Advisory Collective is a volunteer group of young people aged 12-24 years who live, work or study in the City of Cockburn. Volunteers help organise and lead community based projects and events such as Youth Noise, FROSH Festival and the Youth ANZAC Parade and Service, and are involved in discussion of Cockburn Youth Fund applications.

The Cockburn Youth Leadership Program aims to develop young people's self-awareness, career aspirations and the ability to meaningfully contribute to the Cockburn community and create positive change.

Youth Centre events and programs

The City's Youth Centre holds regular events and programs for young people. For a list of what's currently running, visit the City’s Events and Workshops page.
