About the event
Have you got clothes, shoes, and accessories you no longer wear? Do you want to know more about being sustainably stylish? Did you know that Australia is the second largest consumer of new textile in the world?
Our Community Clothes Swap and Fashion Exchange is your chance to update your wardrobe with a good quality pre-loved fashion treasure hunt!
With special guest speaker Loraine Martin our Feel Good Fashionista, you will walk away from the event with a new outlook on shopping and 'new' items in your wardrobe. Loraine will provide a presentation on how to dress more sustainably, shop mindfully and get tips and tricks to help reduce textile waste.
In under two hours, you could have a whole 'new' wardrobe for free. All you need to do is bring along quality clothes (clean/no stains/holes/damages/broken zips), shoes, and accessories you don’t wear anymore (any style or season) and exchange them for items you will. Bring up to 5 items and take as many as you like, and best of all, it’s FREE.
Check-list prior to the event:
- Are your items cleaned and free from permanent stains, holes, tears and/or anything that would make it unfit for resell?
- Underwear, sleepwear and tired gym clothes will not be accepted.
Found a treasure but it need to be slightly altered/tailored? No problem! Our volunteer seamstress will be here to help.
This event is part of our Textile Waste Reduction Program, proudly supported by the Government of Western Australia and funded by the Waste Authority–Waste Sorted Program and the City of Cockburn.
