About the event

During the Nyungar season of Djilba, immerse yourself in the beauty of one of Cockburn’s southernmost nature reserves, Frankland Park.

Begin your self-guided stroll from the Frankland Park Sporting and Community Facility car park. Follow the signage west along our 1km Pop-up Wildflower Trail, set on a scenic limestone track. Along the way, you’ll encounter fun fact signs that reveal fascinating details about wildflowers.

Frankland Park is teeming with life, and you might even be lucky enough to spot a kangaroo! If you’re an early riser, the morning is the best time for birdwatching. The area is home to a variety of bush birds, including butcherbirds, wattlebirds, honeyeaters, and even the endangered Carnaby's Black-Cockatoo.

September is the perfect time to explore our bushland reserves and enjoy the wildflowers in bloom. Please remember to stay on the paths, and note that it is illegal to pick wildflowers.

Download our Wildflower Guide to help you spot local gems along the way.

If you prefer a guided walk around Frankland Park, join us at our next Nature Discovery Day on Wednesday 25 September. We have multiple walks throughout the day including: a morning walk with the bushland operations staff, lunchtime stroll with the our Sustainability & Climate Chnage team or sign up for the Boodjar Biddi cultural walk to learn about Nyungar culture.

You can also check out our Wildflower Adventures at Denis de Young Reserve in Banjup on Saturday 21 September,  all part of Biodiversity Month.
