Do you want to reduce food waste going to general waste and landfill, and make your own fertilizer?
Then join us on Wednesday 18 September at Harvest Lakes Community Centre for our Worm Farming Workshop!
Worms are a great way to convert your kitchen waste into fertiliser. They convert the waste into both liquid fertiliser and castings that are great for plants. You will learn all about the art of worm farming with a hands-on demonstration. This workshop is part of the Home Waste Compost Subsidy Program. You can purchase a subsidised worm farm for $95 at the workshop or simply join us to learn more about recycling organic waste at home.
Don't forget to bring your proof of address in the City of Cockburn e.g. driver's license or utility bill IF you intend to purchase a subsidised worm farm. Visit cockburn.wa.gov.au/compostsubsidies to learn more about the resident subsidies and rebates on offer.
Not a Cockburn Resident? No worries.. feel free to attend anyway. Many of our neighbouring Councils offer similar subsidies which you will be able to access.
Sustainability is a key strategic value for the City of Cockburn. The City has identified the following vision statement to ensure sustainability of its waste management services: 'To lead and support a community that avoids waste generation, reduces environmental impacts and consider the waste that is produced as a valuable resource to be recovered, reused and recycled.'
