About the event

The average Australian purchase 56 items of clothing and discards 23kg of textile every year!

Join us for this unique "behind-the-scene" tour of the Good Sammy’s operation in Canning Vale followed by a sustainable style workshop and op-shopping experience with Hazel, the sustainable stylist and fashion expert from The Curated Wardrobe.

This is a unique opportunity to see Good Sammy’s processing plant in operation, learn about their recycling strategy, the challenges related to fast fashion and textile waste management. It is also an amazing opportunity to get a personalised styling experience. Hazel will help participants to carefully curate a selection of pre-loved items that will truly maximise the wearability of your wardrobe at the Good Sammy's Factory Outlet Store!

Participants will be asked to consider (or bring) four items:
  • One piece of clothing they love and wear all the time
  • One piece of clothing they have had for a while but have never worn
  • One piece of clothing they only wear one way
  • One piece of clothing of great quality they are happy to donate.
This ensures that the tour and workshop will have practical and immediate impact on your wardrobe, your consumer habits and will help you feel authentic in every outfit your wear!

Meet us at the City of Cockburn Administration Centre carpark to be transported to and from the Good Sammy's Operation Center - departing 8.30am sharp from the Admin Centre carpark.
Light Refreshment will be provided.

Please wear enclosed shoes.

Please let us know if you have any accessibility requirements.

As we will be touring the facilities during operating hours, we kindly ask that minors would be accompanied and supervised by an adult. (Tour recommended for children 12 years and above)
Please feel free to contact us if you have any question; we will be happy to help and we look forward to seeing you there!

This event is part of our “Textile Waste Reduction Program” proudly supported by the Government of Western Australia and funded by the Waste Authority – Waste Sorted Program and City of Cockburn.

Sustainability is a key strategic value for the city of Cockburn. The city has identified the following vision statement to ensure sustainability of its waste management services: "To lead and support a community that avoids waste generation, reduces environmental impacts and consider the waste that is produced as a valuable resource to be recovered, reused and recycled."
