CEO Standards for Recruitment, Performance and Termination
In early 2021, the
Local Government (Administration) Amendment Regulations 2021 (CEO Standards) introduced mandatory minimum standards for the recruitment, selection, performance review and termination of employment in relation to local government Chief Executive Officers (CEOs). Guidelines were also developed for Local Government CEO Recruitment and Selection, Performance Review and Termination, which outlines the recommended practice for local governments in undertaking these processes.
In addition, the City has adopted a CEO Performance Management Framework that sets out:
Performance review process to be agreed between local government and CEO
- Carrying out a performance review
- Endorsement of performance review by the local government
- CEO to be notified of results of the performance review
